To plan for cosmetic or functional changes in a smile, we take impressions and pour plaster models that accurately show the current position and shape of the teeth. These models are mounted on an articulator which can be thought of as a "jaw simulator."
We make our proposed changes on the plaster models first. This allows us to try out the treatment before we make any changes to the existing teeth. A finished diagnostic wax-up shows the completed "picture" for restoring the front teeth.
